Dealing with Accidents that Causes Facial injuries

By: Ivonne Jade Agustin

Facial injuries and deformation will serve as a constant reminder to victims of accidents of the pain and distress they have suffered because of other’s violence or negligence.

Most facial injuries usually result from:

• Sports-related accidents

• Personal injury accidents

• Violence or fights

In order to avoid these physical marks, it is important to be aware of accidents that can cause them. Better knowledge in evading these accidents will prove to be beneficial in the long run.

Personal Injury Cases

These are unintentional acts committed by a party which usually results to injuries and damages to another. Here are examples of personal injury cases:

• Car Accidents. Everyone is at risk of these accidents and so we should always be cautious in driving so as not to be injured and be held liable for damages as well. Shards of broken glasses from windows and mirrors are likely to cause scrapes and cuts into the facial area, and worse, it can get to the eyes of occupants which can cause permanent blindness and other visual impairments.

• Medical Malpractice. Patients should always make sure that their doctors have a clean record and are trusted to deliver their promised results. There have been cases when some patients leave clinics and hospitals in a worse condition than when they went in. If proven guilty of their negligence, these doctors can face jail time or have their medicine license revoked.

• Defective Products. In case of product malfunction, the manufacturers and distributors can be held liable for not ensuring the public’s safety by releasing their poor quality products out in the market.

These products can range from vehicles to food to medicines we take in believing in the promise that they can improve our condition. However, some of these products cause accidents and illnesses which can result to facial injuries.

• Fall Accidents. These are usually caused by a harmful condition in an establishment because of the property owner’s inaction or negligence in the maintenance of the property.

These accidents can result to a person tripping forward causing him to land flat on his face and incur injuries in the neck, head, and spinal cord.

As in the above accidents, the party who caused the accident will be held responsible for the damages that his action inflicted. If these people are proven guilty, they are likely to serve time in prison and pay damages to the victim.

After an accident, it is important to:

• Have yourself checked for injuries.

• Take note of the identity of the liable party

• Contact authorities and let them know of the accident

• Secure a personal copy of the police report

• Call a personal injury lawyer to represent you and take charge of legal actions that you need to do in order to claim compensation for damages.
