Overcome Your Craveings

By: Eric Minden

At some point everyone has cravings. Some people have cravings for some things
others would not ever try, like pickles and ice cream. I know it sounds horrible
but people really do crave that. So what can we do curb these cravings for
chocolate, salt, and any other cravings we may have? Simple, follow these
tips.

If you eat several small meals throughout the day instead of three or four
large meals, you will have fewer cravings and you will still be taking in
the right amount of calories per day.

Drinking plenty of water and drinking more water than soda will help you get
that feeling that you are not hungry. You should keep a bottle of water in
your desk at work or in your bag, this way if you do have a craving you will
be able to drink your water and the craving will go away on its own. Also,
water will keep you hydrated and help you feel better about what you are
putting into your body, since water has no calories and is healthy.

Avoid going to the supermarket or to a party on an empty stomach. Doing so
will only make your cravings worse and even though you know you shouldn't take
that bite of food you will do it anyway. Going to the supermarket while you
are hungry causes you to buy on impulse, purchasing things that look good
at that moment. So eat a small meal before you do any of these things.

While you are at home on your day off keep fresh fruit around so you will
be able to snack when you begin to have a craving. Fruit is beneficial for
you since fruit has vitamins your body needs.

If you must keep snacks in your desk at work, make sure they are low in fat
and in calories. Just because a food item is low in fat or fat free it does
not mean that it is low in calories or calorie free. So make wise decisions
when it comes to your snack items. If there is an item you enjoy eating
don't cut it out of your diet completely, just eat it in moderation.

The next time you have a craving for something you will be ready, just
follow these tips and you will cut back on hunger and cravings.
