By: Linnit Paulic

We are certain that during school affairs you have heard about such words as synonyms, antonyms and homonyms. First word we apply when we need to supplant the initial word to something similar, second word denotes opposite meaning of initial word and the third we use when we discover different interpretations of original word that by spelling are fully the same.

As we commonly talk about All Icons, their types, place of application and creating so this time we will talk about the word "Icon" itself and learn what other definitions it has.
Let us imagine a discussion between several people that believe in miscellanious meanings of this word:
-Have you seen new Alchemist Icons with signature of Paulo Coelho?-Peter
-Yeah…Paulo Coelho is a natural icon,-Jack
- Paulo Coelho is an icon? You are so far from religion!-Mary
- Oh, truly can I discover some icons at iconsbank.com?-Bob

Now we will discover about what icons all these human beings were talking about, so first was Peter. The word icon is translated from Greek as an image. So the first interpretation of icons is very easy: an image. So Peter was talking about visual representation of outstanding book, perhaps they came to a conclusion to reprint this book applying fresh cover or pictures inside of it.
Now let us have a talk about Jack, as we could remark he has another point of view about icons. The second definition of this word is a role model. So now it is truly understandable to us what he had in mind, he thought that Paulo Coelho is a very outstanding person in literature world or possibly he is an role model showing how other authors have to work or to act. Maybe you hold with him, maybe not, but let us not quarrel and leave nonchalant, because we have also other meanings.
We had a chance to investigate by Mary's way of saying that she was resentful by Jack words and there is nothing unexpected in it and the next meaning will tell you about it. So the third interpretation is also in the denoting of this word from Greek, as also this word means interpretation of Christian religious craft. Only saint people could be drawn at icons, they were painted in oil on a little piece of wood. At icons you can remark traditional saint sign, the story of Christianity and also Christian have in mind that icons have something that you can't remark with your eyes. Nowadays the school of iconography doesn't exist anymore, that is also the ground why Christian icons are so precious.

Now we have to return to our Earth as we own another standpoint from Bob. Bob like a diversity of people today is a fan of Internet, so it is not unexpexted he has in mind this word from computer science. So the forth meaning is a graphic symdol that symbolizes some options you can use or some folders, files you can open.
Surely it is not a problem to determine what icon are people speaking about by the concomitant words they employ "Christian Icons" ,"…is an icon" or "Avatars Icons". So be heedful-know about various meanings of icons!
